Chinese New Year 2011

The clock has struck 12.00am marking the over of year 2010 in Chinese Calendar. I am spending the new year with my Mum in JB this year, rather than going back to hometown. So my Dad and younger brother will be in Sibu celebrating the new year with relatives. The reason? Mainly due to very costly air tickets.

Since I was a small kid, I enjoy the new year preparation days. The feeling is great because of the strong sense of family bond and kinship. The busy days throughout the whole year with each other dazzling through our own activities every day, it is only during the new year we get to do things together; cleaning house, baking cake, buying cookies, etc. Doing all these stuffs as a family make us feel blessed.

Watching the fireworks from my 3rd-storey living place last night, I am thinking of my home, my home-sweet-home in Sibu. I was thinking, if I am not doing my PhD currently in JB, but instead I am working in my hometown, how would that be? Or if I have become a successful breadwinner in JB and have my family from Sibu move out here and living with us, wouldn't that be marvelous?

In life, we often can make decision one at a time. It reminds me of an English poem named 'The Road Not Taken'. It describes best about the alternate road that we are unable to take when we have chosen to walk through the preferred one.

How far do you agree with it?
